Vivian New Art Doll

Meet Vivian. Vivian hides in the abandoned warehouse, afraid to join the rebellion but even more afraid that the Evil Soul Sucker will find her there...
epoxy over an armature. Her legs are jointed, and slightly pose-able. Her right arm is made from a skeleton key that says heart on it, there is also a vintage brass button. Her left arm is made from some weird found object that I sculpted the upper arm on, there is a vintage brass button at the top, also black lace for her sleeve. She wears a black velvet choker with a vintage watch piece centered on it. The base of her hat is a faux watch face, cork, lace, a feather and topped with a filigree brass piece. Her left eye is brown glass. Her right eye is a vintage watch piece made by Elgin. On her chest is a found little brass colored clock that I distressed to look old. Her clothes are hand stitched and not removable. I hand painted (her corset is also painted on) her in layers and sealed her with a matte finish.

Another original cameo painting :o) I painted Cara on a tiny canvas ( 1 1/4" or 32mm) and then inserted her into the pocket watch pendant (the pendant is 1 3/4" or 44 mm). The last photo shows the back of the pocket watch pendant. The painting is one of a kind and signed and sealed. The antiqued brass chain is 20" long with a lobster clasp. Meet Gail. She is really sick of her sister always snickering and poking fun at her, so today while they were making paper dolls, when her sister laughed at her dolls, the monster within took over. Next thing Gail knew the scissors in her hand where in her sisters back. That made her stop laughing.

Gail is 7 1/2" long x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". She can sit on her own or you can hang her, either from a tree or just some place special. She is hand sculpted from polymer clay. Her legs and arms are movable. She has vintage watch parts on her face. Her left eye is a piece of glass I hand painted. In her left hand is a pair of silver scissors. I painted her in layers with acrylic paints, she is sealed with a matte finish. Her dress is black velvet with vintage lace trim, hand sewn (not removable).

Meet Suz, she's a mixed media artist on the run from the Soul Sucker. He really wants to drain all the creativity out of her...

Suz is 19" tall to the top of her hat, 4" wide and 3" deep. She is hand sculpted from paper clay over an armature. Her legs are jointed, and poseable. Her right arm is made from a found metal thingie, and a scissor charm. Her left arm is made from a paint brush. Her hat is cork, crystals, black glitter and a piece of vintage jewelry. Her right eye is a vintage watch piece, her left eye is hand painted. On her chest is a brass vintage watch piece with a vintage pin on top.

Steampunk Cameo Necklace

I've decided to paint some of the steampunk souls and I thought a cameo would be the perfect beginning! I painted little Suzi on a tiny canvas and then inserted her into the pendant. The painting is one of a kind and signed and sealed. I also embellished it with tiny vintage watch parts. I used vintage blue rosary beads for one side of the necklace and part of the other side. The chain is 22" long with a lobster clasp. A vintage watch part also hangs as a charm, along with two metal black roses. At the bottom of the pendant is a brass key and two of the vintage blue rosary beads.

Skelly Claus! STJ update

Skelly Claus is coming to town!! So you'd better not pout, you'd better not cry...

He's 9" x 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" sculpted out of paper clay, over an armature. Vintage watch part is the clasp for his robe, and the top of his walking stick. A vintage typewriter key makes up his right eye. Two metal screws are on either side of his jaw.

Sylvia hates the way she feels inside, well what's left of her inside since the Soul Sucker took her prisoner...

Sylvia is 10 1/2 x 3" x 2" deep. She has vintage black glass button for her left eye, around her eye are vintage watch parts, her right eye is grey glass. There is a tiny brass key on her forehead. On the top of her head is a light bulb. The center of her body is a glass light bulb, you can see through her. Her arm is an old school compass. There is a vintage earring that acts as her brooch and a vintage metal tag at the bottom of her collar.

She's 11 x 4 x 3" and sculpted out of Polymer Clay. A vintage typewritter key makes up her right eye, along with vintage watch parts on her face and chest. A jet black rhinestone bee is on her shoulder. She holds a blue glass ball. Her left arm is a key that says dreams on it.

Katrina loves her little kitty, she keeps him nice and safe in the jar. Don't tell her it's not a kitty, it's one of the Evil Soul Suckers experiments! It makes Katrina very angry...

Katrina is 7 1/2" tall x3" x 3" deep. She has vintage watch parts for her right eye, and her left eye is purple glass. There is also a vintage watch part as the clasp on her collar. The back of her dress has a vintage earring in pretty shades of purple. She is hand sculpted over an armature (no molds ever) out of polymer clay. Her right arm is a vintage key. The specimen jar is glass with a top I created out of polymer clay, a wind up watch part and another found object. Her little, er...kitty is also handsculpted and has tiny vintage watch pieces on it. I hand painted her in layers with acrylic paints, she is sealed with a matte finish. Katrina is signed, titled and dated on the bottom.

Meet Faye and May, another set of conjoined twins. I have this thing about good and evil living in side someone, but what if they were split into two people inside the same body? Poor May! Faye is a bit on the evil side!

I had a lot of fun with this one, sculpted on a vintage alarm clock, it's permanently open now. Lots of vintage watch parts on their chest and in their eyes. I also used glass eyes on them, since I've had a few melting mishaps lately! Sculpted in polymer clay over an armature.

Meet Steampunk Soul Sister Agnes. She doesn't understand why the inky black stuff keeps spilling out of her mouth, then again, nothing has been the same since the Evil Soul Sucker came to Creativity.

Sister Agnes is 9 1/2" tall x 4" x 3" deep. She has vintage watch parts for her right eye, and another vintage piece under her left. There is also a vintage watch part on her chest, with a vintage rosary piece and watch gear. At her waist hangs vintage rosary beads and a beautiful vintage cross. She is hand sculpted over an armature (no molds ever) out of polymer clay. Her left arm is some kind of metal found object with a piece of a wooden ruler. I hand painted her in layers with oil paints.

Hope everyone is doing well. I know I promised to be a better blogger, but I've been super busy. STJ Soiree went very well for me, even though I couldn't be there in person. Five of my pieces will be in Art Doll Quarterly in the Winter issue, which hits the stands on November 1 :o) I've seen the sneak peek and it looks fabulous! The dolls are on a red background, now why didn't I ever think of that? I'm also working on some pieces for a gallery :o) So lots going on, I promise I haven't been slacking! Donnie-New Work

Meet Donnie, all I could think of while I was sculpting him was Donnie Darko for some reason lol, he doesn't even look like a big rabbit! So Donnie was the name that stuck. He's 7 1/2" tall. He has vintage watch parts on his forehead and under his eye. A vintage tag at the top of his zipper, and some kind of metal hatchet that I'm guessing was once a kids toy? Only half of it was there when I found it. Oh he also has vintage watch parts for his little ears? horns?

New Work-Zoey half bunny half steampunk soul

Meet Zoey, half bunny, half steampunk soul. Zoey never wanted to be a pirate, but it's what her family did. That is until the Evil Soul Sucker invaded. Her brother snuck her off the ship late one night, firmly planting the helmet on her head and the gun in her waistband. Zoey hasn't seen her family since. She's joining the rebellion in hopes to see the pirate ship again, she hates to admit it but she misses it.

Zoey is 14" tall x 4" wide x 2 1/2" deep. She is hand sculpted from paper clay over an armature. Her arms and legs are slightly poseable. The parts of her that are bunny are white flocking. She is hand painted in layers, then sealed with a matte finish. She has a watch part for her right eye, and a vintage enameled watch face on her chest. Her clothes are hand stitched and not removable. Her helmet is made of a vintage watch tin, wind up part of a watch, a found chain, and is not removable. The steampunk gun is removable. She is titled, signed and dated.

I started off trying to make a smaller doll that would be more affordable in our current times, but even though she's a wee bit smaller she took me every bit of 3 full days to complete. I did lower her price a bit from the other dolls to help buyers out for now. How about this one lol! They actually sell the beer as nourishment for the baby!! I'm sure the young mother's did benefit from the beer!

and then there's this one from the Soda Pop Board of America, LOL! All we need to do is start giving our babies cola and they are guaranteed to to have a better chance of "fitting in" as a teenager!

What is really scary is I wonder how many people actually bought these products, because of these ads! Ah, the power of advertising! The next one is the best! I think I posted this one a while back, but it's always worth seeing again!

Just think, we don't have to spend all that money on gyms or equipment to loose weight, all we've needed all along is tape worms! Amazing!

Alice or Malice?

Some one suggested to me that I should do an Alice in Wonderland (which everyone who reads this blog knows I LOVE) and so I happily obliged! Here she is! She's 19" tall x 4 1/2" wide x 3" deep.

Her legs are jointed, and posable. Her right arm is made from a vintage skeleton key. Her left arm is made from a small glass vile that has a slip of paper in it that says Drink Me, a metal found object and a blue teacup I made from apoxy. The base of her hat is a vintage watch piece, a silver colored faux watch face, along with the vintage parts on the hat, a tiny key on the back, and a lock. Her chest has a vintage pocket watch piece that says AWW.CO in beautiful script. You can still see the tiny rubies. I added a small gold rabbit (what would Alice be without her rabbit?) and there is a tiny monocle over his eye! Her right eye is an enameled Victorian looking vintage watch face. Her clothes are hand stitched and not removable. I hand painted (her corset is also painted on) her in layers and sealed her with a matte finish. Her red lips and the red heart are not as bright red as they appear in the photos.

Another New Piece Celest

Okay this is exactly how I've been feeling lately! Meet Celest...she used to fly over the creative kingdom warning the other steampunk souls of what the Evil Soul Sucker was really up to. That is until the Soul Sucker caught her. He made sure she couldn't tell another soul by surgically zipping her mouth closed, then he broke her halo. Edna and her band of rebels rescued Celest, but not before it was sadly too late. Celest cries tears of blood over not being able to sing her song of warning.

She's completely hand sculpted, out of paper clay, over an armature. She is 10 1/2" tall, by 3" wide, by 3" deep. She has a vintage watch part for her left eye and one on her chest. Her wings are made of a vintage belt buckle. Her neck was some kind of vintage wooden spool or bobbin? One top of her head is a small clear knob (I think it's acrylic but I'm not sure) and her broken halo is from a vintage clock. I painted her in layers, then sealed her with a matte finish.

I'm sorry I've been so absent lately! I've been working my tail off I just haven't had time to blog, sadly. I took a full time job a while back so that's been keeping me busy on top of the National Halloween Show I participated in with Spooky Time Jingles and then the secret project that I've hinted at. I'll be able to tell you more closer to November ;o) I've made 5 pieces for that. Which I think I might have shown you all most of them anyway ;o) So there were only 3 pieces that I sent to the National Halloween Show that didn't sell there! Hooray! I'm sorry I've been so absent lately! I promise I haven't been slacking! Between finally getting over that nasty bug I had, working full time and working on another project I just haven't found the time to blog lately :o( I've missed you all! This is Isabella and she's for a secret project that I'll tell you all about later ;o) But I just thought it would be nice for everyone to see that I am working! I promise! Sneak Peek at Spook Time Jingles Update A Wee Bit Early!

I know I'm a wee bit early to show you the peeks at my Spooky Time Jingles update, but I've got a busy week ahead of me and I want to make sure I show you all!! The update is the 13th at midnight so set your clocks! First is Elsie, a steampunk soul that is a candy container (or whatever else your heart desires to hide inside her!) She has vintage watch parts for her right eye and behind her left eye. She has a vintage watch piece on her chest and a vintage key in her back. There are two screws on her arms (they do not move). She is hand sculpted over an armature (no molds ever) out of paperclay. I hand painted her in layers, then sealed her with a matt finish. She is 5 1/4" tall x 4" wide x 3 1/2" deep. It's been a while since I blogged! I was super busy with the National Halloween Convention artwork, which is going on this weekend by the way! Lots of really cool artwork there with Spooky Time Jingles!! Then I got sick with some kind of upper respiratory nastiness! I'm finally starting to feel a bit better! In the meantime I created Charlie, another evil steampunk soul sucker medic. I'm loving creating these guys! He's a bit bigger than normal 14 1/2" tall by 4 x 4" Lots of creepy steampunk goodness! Biohazard Medic

Thought I would show you all, one of the things I've been working on for the National Halloween Convention. He's a Soul Sucker biohazard medic. His little jar his filled with tiny vintage watch parts. He's one of the biggest in the Soul Sucker series that I've done, he's 13 1/2" tall x 3 3/4" wide x 4" deep. I'll be sad to see him go, he's one of my all time favorites along with the gatekeeper, izzy & lizzy...and a few more ;o)

Radish Brother is a Girl!

Shows what I know! The veggie brother isn't a brother at all! Nope, it's a sister! Also I was originally going to give him...er...her zucchini arms and legs but I thought that was too much green, so she got summer squash like her sister ;o) This one was easier to photo for some reason. Anyway Miss Radish head and Miss Tomato head are off to the gift shop where they will live in the display window :o)

I finished the Black Crow for STJ update that's coming up on the 13th but boy oh boy did I have a hard time getting pictures of him! He's like the skelly bird where he has a vintage clock part on his head that's a curly cue and I couldn't get it to show up, nor the other vintage watch pieces that make up his wings and tail. I'm going to pull a Scarlett and think about that tomorrow!!

Little guy is on day two of antibiotics and I think he might be feeling a tad bit better!! Throats still sore but no more soaring temp :o)) Off to make dinner! Veggie soup! LOL just kidding! xo Michele

Miss Veggie, A birthday and Strep Throat!

I finally got a picture of Miss Veggie, she was running all around the studio not wanting her picture taken! She doesn't like that the color of her red, she thinks it is looking too orange. Finally she turned put her hands on her hips and let me snap this picture!! Look at that attitude!

I'm trying desperately to get her brother done! But my youngest has been sick for the last couple of days, I took him to the doctor today and he has strep throat :oP Poor kid. Now I feel like I need to disinfect the whole house so the rest of us don't come down with it!

...and did I mention that today is hubby's birthday?? He turns 48 today :o) We have been together since he was 20 and I was a big 18 year old senior in high school! LOL! Here's a picture that I thought would be fun to share, I believe this is right before we got married, taken sometime in the early 80's!

Oliver The Skelly Candy Container

Met the skelly named Oliver, he loves candy and he is perfect to store whatever stash you need to keep secret!

Oliver promises not to eat your candy, well maybe not all of it! He is 8" tall x 7" wide x 3 1/2" deep. He has a delicate crackle finish on him and inside his box. It's been a long time since I crackled something, but Amber and Moriah inspired me to do it again ;o) I really like how he came out! Yesterday I got a couple more things all sculpted out but I was so tired I just couldn't keep going. I just felt drained, both mentally and physically. That usually doesn't happen to me, I'm a workaholic as most of you that follow this blog know. Not sure what it was? But I finally stopped fighting it and just took the rest of the night off ;o) I've got a lot of things going right now that I'm excited about but maybe all that planning and designing just drained me. Hopefully I'll have a few things to show you in the coming days. There's a skelly bust coming up for ebay, plus some others for ebay, a few veggie people that I'm doing for a shop, I'm also working on pieces for the National Halloween Convention :o)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! More snow is on the way for us today and tonight. If I never see another snowflake at this point I would be happy! Remember Sam?

Skelly Bird

Okay so when I started Skelly Bird (I can't help but think of Phoebe's smelly cat song every time I say skelly bird LOL) he was going to be a sweet blue bird....he had a mind of his own and took over! In no way did he want some cutesy bird house, he wanted a haunted bird house lol. So Skelly Bird was born ;o) The curly cue on top of his head is a part from a vintage pocket watch. I painted a couple of witches, a jol, a black cat and a skeleton in the windows of Skelly Birds haunted house.

He is 8" tall not counting the curly cue x 3 wide x 3 deep. He will be available on Ebay michelelynchdesigns on Monday at 8 pm central time. Also the conjoined twins will be on ebay tonight at 9 pm central time, and Freddy ends tonight at the same time!

We got about 5 to 6 inches of snow yesterday! I meant to take a picture of the trees in bloom with the snow on them, they were so pretty! But the sun came out first thing this morning and has melted the snow off of them. It never did stick to the streets really, they were just too warm still. Crazy spring weather! xo Michele

Waylon & Daylon Conjoined Pumpkin Twins

Meet Waylon & Daylon the conjoined pumpkin twins! Both are afraid of spiders an one has made a web on their belly and is crawling towards Daylon, the bad part is they are both trying to run in opposite directions! They are just shy of 5" tall x 5"wide x 3" deep, the belt buckle is a vintage find ;o) They will be available on my ebay page on Sunday at 9 pm central time. No Bones About It

Meet the flying skelly guy ;o) I had some challenges creating this one, but in the end I think he worked out! He's 9 1/2" tall x 7" x 3". He has screws at his jaws, a vintage enameled watch face, tiny skelly charm, 2 swarovski crystal elements on his hat and a found metal curly thingy :o) I'm putting him in on ebay for Thursday night at 8 pm central time :o) He's a Halloween party-er if I ever saw one ;o)

I still have three more pieces that are sculpted and ready to paint ;o) I keep saying I'm going to take a day off and enjoy this weather, but I haven't! Today is the last day, before we dip back down to our normal 40-50's so I'm off to enjoy! xo Michele

Batty For Halloween!!

This is a cabbit LOL! He's a cat/rabbit! Okay so it's actually a black cat with bunny ears on, but don't tell him you can tell he's not really a rabbit! His name is Marvin and Marvin uses his smile to pick up chicks. LOL okay I know it was corney, but I gotta amuse myself lol! Gotcha! This piece was inspired by how quickly time can sneak up on you! Remember that birthday of mine? LOL. I actually had him all sculpted before that, but didn't have him painted yet. It's taken me a while to get back into the groove of things this week!

Gotcha the grim reaper hangs on the wall. There is a hook already in his back for easy hanging. He is 8 1/2" tall x 3"wide x 2 1/2" deep. He has a vintage watch piece for his eye, screws in his jaw (reminds me of the snake bite piercings!) a gear that acts as the button to hold his robe together, and a vintage watch face, entire watch piece with it's tiny rubies intact, and a spinner. He is entirely hand sculpted out of paper clay over an armature. His hands are epoxy, He is hand painted and sealed. The title, date and my signature are on the back. He's available in my ETSY SHOP :o)

Until Death...Grim Reaper Couple

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Grim Reaper! I think they would be a really unique wedding cake topper! He is just shy of 5" tall and she is 4" tall. They are available in my etsy shop :o)

I survived the birthday weekend, but just barely! Had waaaay to much fun Saturday night and paid for it on Sunday! and of course I swore I would never do that again...until next time. lol. We went out to eat Sunday night for our birthdays at a Sushi restaurant here by our house and had a great time, sampling off of each others plates! Monday I gave my youngest a hall pass from school for his birthday and we spent the day together. He had that birthday money burning a hole in his pocket so of course we had to go to Game Stop and get the latest and greatest for the Xbox ;o) We had a really nice day together, I love spending time with my boys :o) Hope everyone has had a great weekend and start to their week! Old Work & Birthdays

Most of you know I did or do jewelry but did you know I did paper mache folk art before that? Here are some pieces that I still have :o) Flower Fran is dated Feb 2004 and Party Kitty is also from 2004. Kinda fun to look back, right? I keep these pieces in my studio as reminders. I also have some of the first painted glass pendants I did (shudder!), and a few pieces of the ceramics I've done. There's a pop art painting that I did hanging in my hall downstairs, and two abstracts that I did in my foyer...Do you all keep any of your artwork?

I spent the day doing something that ranks right up there with computer stuff...housework :oP Yuk. I would rather gouge out my eye with a fork. I love a clean house, but I don't like being the clean house maker! Not my gig. I'm cleaning because tomorrow is my birthday ;o) (I'm 21 again, why do you ask?) and so that means people are coming over...why though does that mean work for me?? Then you know you clean for them to come over and then you just have to clean again when they leave. Sigh. There must be something to this madness! I get to where I dread holidays and birthdays because they are so much work...OMG I've turned into my mother!! That is exactly what she used to say and I would say she was a stick in the mud!! On the eve of my 46th b-day I have officially turned into my mother!! Well maybe that's not such a bad thing, she was a wise woman ;o)

Have a great weekend everyone whatever you do! Happy Birthday to my dear Luthien who shares the same birthday as my youngest Son on Sunday!! My son will turn 13 on Sunday, and I have no idea how that happened! One day he was a terrible two and the next he's an intelligent, sweet, funny young man. I'm going to try and post on Sunday, but I'll be honest Saturday night we are going out to a bar and I'm not sure the shape I'll be in on Sunday. Emily-Wall Hanging Steampunk Soul and Website HELL!

Okay first off let me intro Emily and then I'll tell you about my personal website HELL experience ;o)

Meet Emily, she’s a bit taller and older than the other Steampunk Souls so they all tend to look up to her. She really doesn’t want all the responsibility. Emily longs for the days she could read books, write in her journal and play with her dolls.

She’s 12″ tall x 3 wide x 2″ deep and hangs on the wall. Her eye is a vintage watch piece, her arm a vintage skeleton key and watch gear, On her chest is a vintage Swiss watch movement. Her foot is a sewing machine part. The little button on her collar is the wind up mechanism of a vintage pocket watch. Her hat is made up of an old watch part tin, and a light bulb. She’s available in my etsy shop

Warning, this is where my rant starts!
Now, lemme tell you about hell...it's not a great place to be and for me it starts with....let me just re do my website because it's so outdated...I'm sure some of you saw me post that naive little sentence...so I go to the place that hosts my site and I see wordpress! Great! I think to myself, this should be fairly easy. Riiiiight!! I am not a techie person, I know enough html to make me very dangerous! So I build the pages okay, it's slow moving and each tiny thing can take me an hour to do! The pages are kinda bland and boring but that's okay at least I can edit them and maybe someday I'll learn some fancy stuff. So then I come to the blog, and obviously wordpress is actually a blog building program. So I begin checking into everything and find this plugin that will import my blogger blog. Well silly me thinks this means everything (does anyone else ever expect alot and get let down all the time?? sheesh!)! First it takes me HOURS and I mean hours to get this plugin to work and I jump out of my chair screaming I DID IT!! WOOO HOOO! Only then I'm looking at it and I HATE IT! I can no longer see your beautiful faces! I don't have my favorite blogs, I can't see what you've posted, the list goes on and on! So now I don't sleep on Monday night. I've spent all day working on the website and that means a good 12+ hours (LOL I know you can't tell from the site!) and I don't feel like I've done the right thing :o( I write to Ginny. I write to Luthien. Someone HELP lol...no one knows wordpress :o( I forgot to mention when I did the plugin to import blogger to wordpress you have to use a standard template and it wiped out my old template and everything I had built here on this blog. Yeah I was having an OH S%$# moment again. So I think all day yesterday (tues) I can do this I can make it work. Then I get a comment on my blog! YEAH!! I think it's one of you...NO, it's a comment from escort call girl milano I SWEAR to you, that's what it says!! Okay well fine, even call girls need to look at art, right? Then today I get a comment from some guy wanting me to buy his steroids..THAT'S IT! I'm done! I came back over to blogger and by some miracle don't ask me how because I really don't know I restored my blog!! I was clicking this and that and figuring I had nothing left to loose at that point and all of a sudden there it was!! The only thing I had lost was a few of the text colors!! WOOOO HOOO! I then spent hours and hours trying to redirect my website blog page to blogger, which from what I understand they strip the code, but that's working now too as far as I know :o)) So WOOO HOOO I think I've clawed my way out of hell!! It only took me three days LOL! Okay so this weekend I did everything and anything to avoid that website. Sigh. Which is why it's so outdated! I know it's not Halloween, but I seem to be in that mood all the time! Meet Freddy, the pumpkin man. He got that name because I thought he looked like Freddy Krouger from Nightmare on Elm Street while I was sculpting him. lol. Time Keeper Grim Reaper ( I love that it rhyms LOL how corney is that?!) may be taken, I'm not sure yet. He is even more detailed than the Times Up Grim Reaper. Lots and lots of vintage watch parts on his robe and for his eye. I loved adding the zipper detail and will be adding more of that in the future :o) His scythe is removable and is a vintage skeleton key, vintage pocket watch piece and epoxy. He's sculpted over a wire and epoxy armature. His hands are epoxy, the rest is paper clay.

Wooo Hooo! I'm so happy to say that I'm now offering prints of the Steampunk Dolls in my Etsy Store Click Here ! I bought an awesome Epson R1900 printer, a while back and have put off making the prints. I'm not a techie kinda person so for me this was hell lol. But I have 7 of them done now--YIPEE!! Now at some point I need to tackle my very outdated website...

George The Bone Boy & Happy Valentines Day!

Meet George the bone boy. George loves to blow thing up, or he did. Momma told George not to play with those red sticks the Soul Sucker gave him, but George didn't listen. Now George plays in the graveyard with his stick of dynamite and wonders why the other kids can't see him?

Pardon the interruption in our regularly scheduled program, but...

Before I talk to much more about George, to all you artists out there have you ever sculpted (or painted or whatever) yourself into a corner? That's what happened with George. I knew how I wanted him to look and I got him all sculpted but his arms and everything came to screeching halt! George wasn't happy. He didn't want a bird on his arm, he doesn't even like feathers. So round and round we went. And this is how George looked:

George and I just could not agree on anything. At that point, I was calling him no arm boy lol. Finally George told me his story, and I said, why didn't you tell me that in the first place?? LOL

Okay back to our regularly scheduled program...

He's completely hand sculpted, over an armature. Hand painted, and sealed. He is 6 1/2" tall, by 5" wide, by 2" deep. He has vintage watch parts for his right eye, and one on his forhead, you can still see the tiny rubies. His hat has some kind of vintage propeller thing, and on his chest are two found vintage items. The one thing says Record and Detach, T7306, Hurd. His feet are found bolts, There is a tiny skull at his collar. The tombstone is also sculpted out of paper clay, painted and sealed. I added a bit of moss to it. The tombstone is included with him. Inspired Remnants, Curious Dreams Book

I recently purchased this art book from Kerin Gale, I haven't been buying many art books. If you are like me you have shelves and shelves full of books! And I have to say that anymore I don't see anything that really sparks my interest or anything that I think I will learn anything new from. BUT when I saw this book Inspired Remnants, Curious Dreams mixed-media projects in epoxy clay I was excited! I use Aves Apoxie Sculpt in my mixed media but I had never found anyone else who used it! I will say I was still wondering if I should spend my hard earned money on the book, but the photo on the cover really really drew me in. I loved it! So I ordered the book through Kerin on etsy, and she is delightful! I received my copy quickly in the mail and she even signed it with my name :o) I anxiously sat down and started skimming through the book and I have to say I LOVE the book :o) It has tons of eye candy, lots of good projects that gets your inspiration going, gallery photos from artists I admire (I was thrilled to see Liz McGrath in there! LOVE her!), step by step photos are clear, Kerin is a natural teacher and a fabulous artist. If you've been looking for a new art book and if you've never tried epoxy clay this is the book for you!! Times Up Skelly Grim Reaper

Time's Up Grim Reaper :o) He's 8 1/2" tall, sporting lots and lots of steampunk parts inside his robe. He scythe is made up of a vintage skeleton key and vintage watch part. He's available in my Etsy shop.

I also finished those pendants. I have a h&%$ of a time with them! First off I sealed them with a gloss and now I'm not sure I like the gloss as much. Then I couldn't get the photographed to save my soul from the Grim Reaper up there! Here they are though:

I know they are kinda hard to see, the details are so tiny. But I'm over taking any more pics tonight LOL! I'm going to put them in my etsy shop also :o)

What's On My Worktable

I'm waiting for the grim reaper doll to dry and in the meantime I painted some of the little faces on glass that I usually put on the jewelry. But then I thought, those don't look as much like the dolls anymore. So I whipped out the epoxy clay and sculpted some tiny faces to go on the jewelry :o) They have tiny little steampunk parts on them like the dolls do! I know they are hard to see here, and hopefully tomorrow I'll have them painted and the pendants painted, but I thought you might like a peek at what's on my worktable ;o) Also the Grim Reaper should be done by tomorrow!

The Gatekeeper Steampunk Souls Royal Gaurd

Meet the Gatekeeper! The Gatekeeper is part of the Steampunks Souls Royal guard, or was before the evil Soul Sucker took over the castle. He's very sad he let the princess down and couldn't protect her, even if he was outnumbered. If it's the last thing he does he'll help the rebellion rescue the princess from the tower. He only hopes they will be in time.

I think he's one of my favorites! My oldest son saw him while I was still sculpting him and said, he should be a knight! Great idea! So I added the knight's helmet to him. Then my youngest son came in while I was painting him and said, you should call him the Gatekeeper. Another great idea! I love my boys!! Maggie the steampunk witch

First witch of 2011!! Meet Maggie! Little Maggie wants to grow up and be just like her Momma, casting spells for her Uncle Soul Sucker. She can't wait until she's old enough to work for the corporation! But for now she is happy to play in the halls of the castle with her blocks. This block with the W for witch is her favorite!

Maggie is 8 1/4 inches tall to the tip of her hat. I added scrapbook paper for her dress again. Not sure if it's worth the hassel lol, Several more steps involved that way. Lemme know what you guys think! I'm listing her on Ebay tonight at 8 pm central time.
