Something Different in Soul Sucker Land!

A mermaid!

Meet Neith, Egyptian name meaning water. Neith is one a the few steampunk mermaids left in the kingdom of creativity. She hides in the underground water systems, sad that she can't visit the ocean. But she knows the Evil Soul Sucker sends out ships with huge nets trying to find her kind, he already captured her papa.

Neith is hand sculpted from epoxy over an armature. She measures 15" tall by 11" wide by 2" deep. Her arms are wire at the top so she is pose-able. She's bigger than most of my dolls so that she will make an impression on the wall. Her left eye is grey glass. Her right eye is a beautiful vintage watch piece. All over her tail I embedded found items that have to do with the sea. Her sleeves are hand dyed fabric made to look like seaweed, there are also a few pieces in her hair. I hand painted her in layers and sealed her with a matte finish.

Mermaid & Hummingbird

Tonights ebay auctions are a mermaid that is a full necklace...she was so fun to make, I had a ball adding all the little charms to her! and then the hummingbird, I so love how she came out with the little vintage body and all the crystals! More Pendants ;o)

More fused glass pendants are on ebay tonight! These are 5 day auctions to catch up with next week ;o) The mermaids waves are strips of dichroic glass, and the flowers and leaves on the other one are small pieces of fused glass :o) Hope you all like them! I'm off to finish cutting the grass! It's rained so much that it's crazy high! Wooo Hooo for the sunshine lately and 80 degrees!! Had to turn the air on LOL! Fused Pendants

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I survived, barely lol. But wooo hooo all the birthdays have ended and life can get back to normal, whatever that is! I managed to paint a couple fused glass pendants in between the partying!The first one is as close to the painting Forgotten as I could get! Since everyone seemed to love her, I thought someone might like her as a pendant! She will be on ebay at 8 pm central time.

The second pendant is my entry into the Nibblefest contest, a themed art contest beginning on the 20th of each month. Every entry starts at just .99!! The theme this month was favorite childhood story..well I'm sure you guessed mine already! Alice in Wonderland! I decided to do Alice at the Tea Party...I wish I could have included the rabbit, the mouse, and mad hatter but the pendants are just too small we would all need a magnifying glass to be able to see all of them! This one doesn't start on ebay until 9 pm central time (7pm pacific time) because of the contest rules. The voting goes by the number of individual bidders on a piece.

Forgotten

Hope everyone had a great weekend!! We spent the day at a family members and it was nice to get to see everyone and eat and eat and eat LOL. Somehow I managed to get this painting done in between everything ;o)) Mixed media...acrylic, paper, charcoal on wooden oval that's 11 x 14. Titled "Forgotten". Since I'll probably be really busy again this next week I figured I would go ahead and list these 3 pendants as 5 day auctions. I really love the look of these three!They will be on ebay tonight at 8 pm central time. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!! We are going to family's house and it's always lots of people, lots of food, lots of fun! and it looks like the good old Missouri weather just might cooperate for once and we will be dry in the morning!! New Video- Mermaid!!

Okay as promised here is the new mermaid video. Boy, this one was tough, tons and tons of footage to edit down to close to 6 minutes, not easy!! I tried to show as many steps as I could. I still left out the beeswax that I sealed her in at the end and adding the little button. I meant to go back and add that to the video and I forgot lol, blame it on my age. I also thought I wasn't actually in the video until I saw it lol, so you get to see me the way I normally am painting...no makeup LOL. Hope you enjoy the video! Take Time To Smell The Roses

It's funny that just recently I did a post about being a worka a holic and how much I loved what I did etc, it took having a doctor find nodules in my right lung for me to think...Uh oh...maybe I had better slow down a bit and enjoy the world around me a little more. So that's how this little mermaid artwork came about. We recently took a trip to Florida where the internet signal was not the best in the condo and I took no brushes, canvas, etc...with me, so I sat on the beach and slowly learned to relax, that it was okay to take in the fresh salt water air, to listen to the waves rolling over the beach, it was okay to do nothing but watch the seagulls fight for a cheeto my son had thrown to a group of them. I learned to just enjoy the moment.

Hope you all enjoy her as much as I did creating her. She is mixed media: acrylic, watercolor, scrapbook paper, and german glass glitter. Lemme know what you all think! You can see more pictures of her on ebay where she is listed for auction:
